Devastating Update on Cargo Plane Incident: Fatalities Increases to 13

The number of fatalities due to the UPS cargo plane that caught fire and plummeted has now reached 13, per official reports.

Official's Announcement

Traveling to the Union’s memorial service, I was informed of a 13th person that lost their life as a consequence of the UPS flight 2976 accident,” wrote the city mayor in a public communication. “My prayers are with the loved ones, associates and peers of all who were taken in this week’s disaster. We will get through this as one.”

Deceased Named

A release from the carrier identified the pilots on board the jet as Captain Richard Wartenberg, Co-pilot Lee Truitt, and International Relief Officer Dana Diamond.

“Our hearts are extended to every UPSer who has been impacted and everyone in our local community – helping you and making sure you get the care and assistance you need is our priority,” the organization’s message stated.

Inquiry Findings

Government officials revealed that the UPS cargo plane’s port side wing caught fire and an engine separated shortly after takeoff from the Louisville Muhammad Ali international airport, resulting in the jet to fall and burst into a fireball.

The National Transportation Safety Board announced it is examining the plane’s upkeep logs, which was in the state for maintenance a period prior to the accident.

Flight tracking data showed the jet was on the runway in San Antonio, Texas from the start of last month to 18 October.

“We are knowledgeable that this aircraft was there in San Antonio,” stated an NTSB member on later, not giving a exact time frame. “We will examine every piece of repairs that was completed, even the Texas time, all the way to the time of the trip.”

Retrieval of Critical Components

The cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder were retrieved, and the power plant was found on the tarmac.

The recorders – called black boxes – were constructed to withstand collision damage and extreme temperatures from fires, and they appeared to be in one piece when located within the wreckage. Authorities intend to examining recordings from the recorders.

Aircraft’s concluding flight details showed an altitude of that level and a rate of 210 mph ahead of the accident.

Repair Background

Based on Federal Aviation Administration documents dated that date, a fissure on a structural piece in the center wing fuel tank demanded fixes.

Headquartered in Singapore ST Engineering, which indicated it supplies aircraft servicing for the company’s MD-11 and runs a repair facility in San Antonio, chose not to speak, but said it would work closely when officials approached it.

Operations Resume

Meanwhile, the facility operations restarted that evening with its express also known as evening procedure, spokesperson the company official said. All three tarmacs at the aviation hub were also reopened.

The UPS package handling facility in the city is the company’s biggest. The hub hires in excess of 20,000 people in the locality, manages 300 flights per day and sorts more than a huge volume of packages per hour.

Public Reaction

A memorial was conducted on the night of 6 November by the regional labor union, which acts for staff at the aviation hub, the firm’s primary freight center.

Worker representatives, which stands for staff, began the gathering with a quiet tribute at that time, the rough moment of the crash two days earlier.

“This event was so unexpected, so surprising,” the leader told the assembly of two hundred. “No one had a moment to bid farewell to each of those who we have said farewell to.”
